Winning mattered and it didn’t matter how. These were the premises of Reggina’s commitment to Enna. The three points in the standings are certainly worth more than any lucubration on the performance. The first aspect to highlight is that you never win by chance. Torrisi’s team was able to resist in a match made complex by a less than ideal pitch. He read the moments of the match well and didn’t even risk too much against an opponent who, once again, seemed to have more on a physical level. The only time the hosts managed to get a shot was due to a ball pocketed between the central defender and the left back.
It was clear to everyone that Torrisi couldn’t have the magic wand, but perhaps something more was expected after five days. However, the coach’s contribution is starting to emerge. Starting from the so-called race plan which is often mentioned in his press conferences. Reggina in Enna started the match with five under. During the race in progress, however, he inserted Fofana, Edera, Di Grazia and Ferraro. Sartore and Barillà were still on the bench. Almost as if the intention was to start the match with a team that could cope better in terms of intensity, and then exploit the offensive potential with the opponent’s decline. Furthermore, the group seems alive and involved and it wasn’t easy considering the very difficult situation we are experiencing… In the end, however, a free kick was needed to resolve everything, eliminating the possibility that what had just begun could become a week of ferocious controversy.
The team doesn’t play well and is far from putting in place a fluid and effective maneuver. Limits that are probably clear to the technical staff who at this stage are perhaps starting to favor Serie D technical choices: more long balls and fewer frills. If every victory is not random, the next objective is to ensure that Enna’s success does not remain episodic like that of San Cataldo. It is necessary to do this even in a phase in which the team appears to be a work in progress.
