If Reggina were a painting, Alfio Torrisi’s first version only had different shades of color compared to the previous one. We are satisfied, especially because one of these is the final result. It was unthinkable that after a couple of training sessions the former Trapani coach could solve all of Reggina’s problems. There is certainly something to rejoice in for the three points obtained on the Sancataldese pitch, but also to reflect on the performance. With only a superficial reading one could say that for Reggina the match won at Mazzola was not very different from those lost against Messina and Vigor Lamezia. Two games in which the opponents had struggled to get past the halfway mark, but where they were defeated due to defensive carelessness and absolute inability to achieve territorial supremacy. At the bottom of San Cataldo the Amaranths didn’t create much, they weren’t able to take advantage of a long period of numerical superiority and on a rare occasion when the Sicilians showed up in the area they even came close to scoring. Once again on the development of a free kick at the end of the first half.
Not to mention some defensive uncertainty or the risk of harakiri with yet another avoidable expulsion. In the cauldron of worrying notes there are also sensations on the physical condition: Reggina, while trying to match the intensity of the opponent, in some situations seems to have less and the physical problems due to tiredness, with the consequent changes, indicate that something is wrong. The Amaranth team is not yet a mature team to be able to think about something in the long term.
