Another lap, another race. Not even time to enjoy the success of Modica before Reggina is already ready to return to the field. Three days after the last match, the amaranths welcome Avola, also newly promoted, at the “Granillo”, with kick-off at 6.30pm. A close challenge, in the calendar and in the standings, which offers continuity after the three points obtained in Sicily.
The themes of the match were already addressed yesterday by Mister Marchionni in the usual press conference, held at 12 at the sports centre: «You ask me about first place and I’ll answer you. It’s obvious that it’s a pleasure and for us it will be an extra incentive to always do better. I also mentioned it to the team before the Modica match.”
Turnover in sight? Here is his response: «The midweek will allow us to make some evaluations. We have a large squad and, regardless of who plays, we will have the opportunity to use the modules adopted at the start of the season. The attitude will never have to change to win the three points.” The coach doesn’t trust the Sicilians and warned his team: «Avola interpreted the first two matches differently. Against Igea he suffered, still managing to score two goals, while against Trapani he created several opportunities. We will have to be careful, with the awareness that we may encounter some difficulties. But the outcome of the challenge will depend on our will.”
The group is still not one hundred percent physically and this was seen in Modica: «From here on out we will need race and personality. You have to reach top form. On Sunday, also due to the heat and the slightly smaller pitch than other facilities, there were some problems. We obviously have no shortage of qualities and, fortunately, a huge success has arrived. It being understood that the future of a great team also depends on matches like this. You can’t always conquer the entire stake with goleade.”
He then focused on the individuals: «Macrì is a smart boy, capable of covering different roles. He didn’t train with us, but I asked the management to let him stay. Runza and De Mori will have their chances and I will evaluate them along the way. The same goes for Baldan. There are many of us and, for each match, nine people will necessarily have to go to the stands.”
Marchionni issued the usual bulletin on the unavailable: «Guida has some problems and is unable to work at one hundred percent. Reis had a grievance and we still don’t know whether to call him up or not. I add that Franchini and Palmieri are still in the pits. Jallow, on the other hand, can be recruited and, with his inventions, can decide the match, even coming on from the bench.”
