“I’m starting from here. Where it all began. Forza Reggina”. These are the few words with which, in the official presentation video Luigi Forciniti inaugurated his new experience in amaranth. The footballer from Cariati left Sant’Agata in 2020 as a fourteen-year-old and is returning now that he is just over eighteen.
Forciniti arrives on loan from Empoli and enriches the under battery available to Pergolizzi. Proposing to Serie D an element born in 2006 and in the circle of the National Under 18 is a luxury that few can afford. Reggina makes an important move, because it secures a reinforcement that could have gone to Serie C and he had certainly ended up in the sights of the major Serie D teams. An option that, also considering the regulation that imposes the under, could guarantee him a season as a protagonist so as to begin to breathe with continuity the football of the big boys. A tough and formative experience in a dimension that will certainly be rougher than the years, however important, spent in Empoli between the Under 17, Under 18 and Primavera.
In Reggio, we hope that Forciniti can prove right those who, since the time of the Amaranto Under 15, envisioned a great future for him. A path that, already in 2020, had earned him the call of one of the Italian clubs with the best tradition in terms of ability to notice and enhance young talents.
Forciniti is a complete midfielder, still at an age where perhaps we need to define exactly which position on the pitch suits him best. Pergolizzi has so far mainly tried 3-5-2 and 4-3-1-2formations in which the new Amaranth should be able to act as a right midfielder. But it is too early to venture into tactical predictions.
Also because in midfield there is great abundance and there are several top-level overs. In the last test with the Under 19s, for example, Pergolizzi tried a midfield with Laaribi playmaker, Ba right midfielder and Porcino left midfielder behind Barillà, deployed practically as an attacking midfielder. And in the squad there are also Salandria, Mungo and unders who have already proved valid in the past season such as Zucco (2004) and Perri (2005).
Forciniti is an excellent prospect, who increases the number of options for Pergolizzi, who will always have to field a 2006. At the moment there are only three in the squad: with the latest arrival, right back Vesprini and left back Bombaci. The fact that these are three players with different roles explains why other reinforcements of the same year will arrive in the coming weeks. But this is just one of the fronts that remain open in a market that is still evolving and that could bring some important players to Reggio. Another important striker first and foremost.
