The era of Alfio Torrisi at Reggina begins. The former Trapani coach will replace Bruno Trocini at the helm of the Amaranths. The announcement came yesterday, for him with a contract until June 30th with an option to renew.
Today is the day of the round of 32 of the Italian Serie D Cup. At 8.30pm Nocerina arrives at the “Granillo”. The Campania team, considered among the favorites in group G, are another disappointed team from the start of the season: with 12 points in 8 days they are already -8 behind leaders Scafatese. Both have great interest in advancing in the competition, also because beyond the value of a trophy at the end of the season, victory allows them to benefit from a bonus in the repechage rankings. What is asked of Torrisi is clear: to overcome the seven points gap from the top of the standings. However, the objective passes through a process of normalizing the situation. The club and team may have their flaws, but it is also true that we need to chase away the ghosts of two consecutive games lost against two teams who were dominated for 90 minutes albeit without concreteness.
Circumstances that highlight the need to regain defensive compactness, awareness of one’s abilities and above all offensive quality. Torrisi is a coach who knows the Serie D group: he did well with Paternò and with Trapani he won the play offs first and then the championship. The Granata were a battleship, but in football – and this Reggina teaches this – nothing is taken for granted.
