After the extraordinary success achieved at the Foyer of the Teatro Comunale F. Cilea, with the event “Il Poeta del Lago”, presented in homage to Giacomo Puccini on the centenary of his death, A.Gi.Mus. Metropolitan City Section of Reggio Calabria, chaired by Maestro Alessandro Bagnato and with the artistic direction of Maestro Claudio Bagnato, resumes the 2024 musical season with the cultural initiative “Music at the Center”, now in its 6th edition.

The next concert will be held on Sunday 22nd at 7:30 pm at the Basilica Cattedrale Maria SS. Assunta of the city in honor of the Madonna della Consolazione, who arrived in the Cathedral last Saturday, thanks to the collaboration with the Parish Priest Don Demetrio Sarica and will host the 4th edition of the concert for organ and singing entitled “Tra Terra e Cielo”. For the occasion, first-rate artists who are a source of pride for our territory will perform, such as the sopranos Emanuela Zucchi and Francesca Crea, accompanied by the organists Filippo Diano and Roberta Sainato. For the occasion, a rich and varied program will be performed with pieces of sacred music by JS Bach, H. Purcell, P. Rombi, WA Mozart, A. Guilmant, F. Mendelssohn, J. Alain, and C. Gounod. As St. Augustine taught, “singing is proper to those who love” (Sermo 336, 1: PL 38, 1472) and those who sing pray twice. It is true: singing is an act of love, and by doing so we pray with words and with music, with the heart and with the voice, with devotion and with art. A program, therefore, that, in the spirit of the Youth Musical Association of Reggio Calabria. also tends to highlight, in a set of elements, the young emerging talents, but already established, of our territory, precisely through performances that will certainly be able to pay emotional homage and veneration to the co-patron saint of our city. The program “La Musica a Centro” will continue with the other events of the rich, varied and full program organized by A.Gi.Mus.. Below are the dates and events scheduled: September 30 at 6:30 pm – at the Hotel Excelsior – it will be the turn of “Tea for two”, with the soprano Eva Polimeni and the guitarist Claudio Bagnato; October 19 at the Foyer of the Teatro Conunale F. Cilea in Reggio Calabria the contemporary music event “Risonanze”, a tribute to Luigi Nono on the centenary of his birth, with the performance of the Ensemble Orchestra Reggina; November 1 at 6:00 pm – at the former Convent of the PP. Dominicans of San Giorgio Morgeto, the 5th edition of the concert “In Memoria…..Una voce per Giorgio” will be held; the latter is certainly the most significant, also for the socio-cultural purposes it proposes, (which in past editions also saw the presence of Tgr RAI Calabria), it will be held at the former Convent of the PP. Dominicans of San Giorgio Morgeto, a town dear to the musician and librarian of the San Pietro a Maiella Conservatory of Naples Francesco Florimo and the place where in 1583 at the age of 15 the great philosopher, theologian and poet Giovanni Domenico Campanella, born Tommaso Campanella, took vows. The event will be presented, in particular, to remember the twenty-seven-year-old Giorgio Fazari who tragically and prematurely passed away in July 2019 due to a very serious road accident.

The initiative, strongly desired by the family of the young man from San Giorgio, which is dedicated to all victims of the road and which also includes a strong socio-educational aspect, has seen in previous editions the prestigious presence, among others, of the paralympic athlete and Italian swimming champion Aurora Esabotini and, even before, of the taurianovese Enza Petrilli (also the victim of a road accident), silver medal in archery at the Tokyo and multiple world champion (3 gold medals at the Outdoor Paralympic World Championships in Dubai), as well as other welcome guests, including Fabio and Francesco Florimo, heirs of Maestro Florimo. Finally on December 15th at 6:00 pm – again at the Basilica Cattedrale Maria SS. Assunta di Reggio Calabria – the III^ Review of traditional Christmas compositions and arrangements of songs in the Calabrian dialect, “Che dduci stu Figghjiu”, director Claudio Bagnato.. A program, as you can see, that includes different and varied events, the one put together by the Reggio section of A.Gi.Mus., thanks to the tireless commitment of the president M° Alessandro Bagnato and the artistic director M° Claudio Bagnato, which includes top-notch artists and groups. A program, therefore, that also tends to highlight, in a set of elements, the young emerging talents of our territory, with established professionals, precisely through performances that will certainly know how to cheer up the audience present making them enjoy a few hours of beautiful music and serene lightheartedness.
