“Nine hundred thousand. The Reggio Calabria Airport, in 11 months, registered nine hundred thousand passengers. An incredible record, an enormous number, especially when compared to the sad fate that this airport was about to face just a few years ago. Instead now, in less than a calendar year, for the first time in history, we are close to one million users in transit. Every other previous data has been torn apart. Every most prosperous expectation has been exceeded. The Strait airport is more alive than ever… and we are only at the beginning of its rebirth! Thanks to a ruling class that always believed in us, even and above all when things were going badly, indeed very badly; thanks to a team effort led by the President of the Region Roberto Occhiuto, who did an unprecedented job and through his actions had a decisive impact on giving new life to this infrastructure. With numbers in hand, we can proudly say that, in unsuspecting times, we were right to sell and reiterate that we will continue relentlessly on this path.”
The data was released in preview by Francesco Cannizzaro, Deputy of the Republic and Regional Secretary of Forza Italia Calabria, who has always been committed to the development of the “Tito Minniti” and promoted various targeted measures and ad hoc amendments.
“I want to make this information known, this naked and raw data – highlights the Honorable Reggio Calabria – because it is wonderful news, which just over a year ago we would all have labeled as heresy, an impossible objective, very far from reality. Today, however, we are here to say that in 2025, the Reggio Calabria airport could reach the ceiling of 950 thousand passengers, far exceeding the previous absolute record, that of 622 thousand recorded last year. For the previous one, we need to go back to 2006, when it reached 607 thousand. The current numbers and progression, therefore, must make us think. And if we think about the new airport, the next investments, the consequent initiatives that will be undertaken together with President Occhiuto and the entire Forza Italia team to further improve this airport, we just have to rub our eyes and realize that sometimes reality surpasses even dreams really believe it.”
