The background to the “Peluso case” – the Neapolitan rebel prisoner victim of a punitive expedition by a group of prison officers and their commander now under accusation for the beatings and violence committed against the young Campanian – will bring the former director of the “San Pietro” prison, Calogero Tessitore, back to court. Examination by the public prosecutor and cross-examination by the defense team were not enough, requiring two hearings before the panel chaired by Dr. Silvia Capone (judges Cinzia Tropea and Carla Costantino), to record the entire version of events of the then director, even though he was not present at the time of the violence in the prison in Reggio. The Prosecutor’s Office has reserved the possibility of examining in depth some issues introduced by the defenses which, from their observation point, tend to weaken the load of accusations for the prison officers in the dock. The burden of accusations is currently as heavy as a boulder to the point that most of the thirteen defendants are also responsible for the crime of torture.
