New additions have been made to the medical staff at the Sant’Agata Militello hospital to deal with the well-known and now outdated critical issues that affect the functionality of the departments, putting at risk the fundamental provision of user assistance in the vast Nebrodi basin.
After the signing of the contract, a new cardiologist of Argentine nationality has arrived on duty since yesterday at the Santagatese garrison, among those who the ASP of Messina had selected following the start of the recruitment procedures for specialists from abroad.
A long-awaited addition to give breathing space to the important cardiology department, closed for a year and a half and limited only to outpatient and consultancy activities due to the shortage of doctors.
In this way the department’s staff, including the manager Salvatore Patanè, has risen to four units, of which two are Argentinians.
The health director Giuseppe Pirrone therefore promptly initiated the necessary discussions with the Messina provincial health authority in order to evaluate the possibility, in the near future, of a full reopening of the same complex operational unit.
