Giuseppe Falcomatà’s administration sadly comes to an end and another Giuseppe (Scopelliti) smiles. He doesn’t smile at the support given in the Chamber by the centre-right to the battered Falcomatà (“don’t make me say anything, I want to stay away from controversy”, he says) but that of the former mayor and governor is a bitter smile: “I would say that we are finally reaching the final credits, but the pneumatic void of these 11 years of mismanagement of the city will not be filled easily. However, it can also be an advantage for the centre-right, because the absence of a vision for the city that has characterized this Falcomatà administration allows those who come after him to start from scratch. So everything has to be redone. The absence of a perspective for the future is equivalent to the lack of a project, of a development strategy. Paradoxically, judging by this unfortunate experience that is about to end, the centre-right also appears, in theory, to have an advantage. This is why it is important and urgent to formalize an authoritative candidacy in which the city can recognize itself. To date we record the availability expressed over a month ago from the stage in Piazza Duomo by the Hon. Francesco Cannizzaro, who said he was ready to wear the amaranth shirt. I believe it is a natural, strong candidacy, born in the city and not “suggested” from afar. So, welcome. But it needs to be made official soon.”
