Pancrazio «Walter» Melcore, provincial president of the UDC and Christian Democrats of Reggio Calabria, joins Futuro Nazionale, Roberto Vannacci’s political project. The party itself announced it with a note which underlines, in particular, Melcore’s political roots in Locride.
The electoral precedent in the Siderno constituency
Futuro Nazionale in fact recalls Melcore’s candidacy for the Chamber with the centre-right in the single-member constituency of Siderno, a territory now included in the area affected by the challenge for the by-elections. On that occasion, we read in the note, he collected 23,259 votes, equal to 45% of valid votes, stopping 1,822 votes from the election.
According to the party, Melcore’s entry therefore takes on “an obvious political significance”, adding a figure with consolidated knowledge of Locride and significant electoral experience to the Reggio organization.
The network in the Reggio area
The membership is indicated by Futuro Nazionale as the first result of the aggregation work started by Paolo Ferrara, organizer of the political assembly of 13 August at the Pilone in the presence of Edoardo Ziello and Domenico Furgiuele.
Ferrara, it is explained, is working together with the regional commissioner to build a network capable of connecting Reggio Calabria, the Strait, the Grecanic area, Locride and the Gioia Tauro plain, involving new energies and personalities coming from consolidated political and administrative experiences.
«Melcore does not simply represent a membership but an important piece of territory that enters our path», claims Ferrara, recalling the result obtained by the political exponent in the Siderno constituency. «Votes belong to history and are not inherited, but experience, credibility and territorial roots, however, remain».
