Yesterday afternoon, the Reggio Calabria Company command conducted a territorial control operation in the central Piazza Sant’Agostino aimed at preventing crimes in general. During the surgery, a Moroccan citizen was arrested. The operation, which is part of a broader urban security plan strongly supported by the provincial command of the Carabinieri of Reggio Calabria, saw several checks on individuals present in the square. During a check, the man took on a hostile attitude, violently opposing the Army soldiers. Subsequently, during a search at the arrested person’s home, the carabinieri an illegal connection was discovered which illegally supplied the property. For this reason, in addition to the arrest for resisting a public official, the man was also reported for aggravated theft of electricity.

After the ritual formalities at the headquarters in Via Aschenez, the arrested person was held in the security room awaiting direct judgement. The control activities of the Carabinieri of Reggio Calabria continue intensely in the city center, with the aim of guaranteeing public safety and preventing illegal situations. Particular attention is paid to the most crowded areas, with patrols and targeted checks aimed at combating all forms of crime. The investigations are still ongoing and, as required by law, the presumption of innocence applies to the suspect until a possible final conviction.
