Over the weekend, the local police of Reggio Calabria carried out an extraordinary service of territorial control, including at night. The activities were carried out with a total of 15 units, a mobile station, 5 cars, breathalyzer precursors, and drug tests. 127 vehicles were checked and 89 drivers were subjected to breathalyzer tests. Of these, 5 were found to be in a state of alcoholic intoxication with all the consequent criminal and administrative sanctions. During the services, over 80 vehicles parked in the areas of the center were also fined for illegal parking, even in contempt of the rules that protect the right to mobility of disabled people. It was also a young man with a new driving license was fined for driving a car registered for two people and transporting a twenty-year-old woman in the trunk of the same vehicle.
On the building controls front it was discovered and seized, in the southern part of the city, a buried artifact in a rough state of about 170 meters about to be finished. The space was not authorized; the competent offices are currently carrying out investigations to certify whether the space, and the preliminary large-scale excavation, did not cause damage or danger to adjacent homes, including that of the person who commissioned the illegal work. During the service directed by the Commander, a total of 98 fines were issued for violations of the highway code.
The activities, carried out within the national and transnational program Focus. n’drangheta, are part of the device to strengthen the territorial control against mala movida. Similar services will continue in the following days. For the subjects reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the presumption of innocence applies, therefore the accusation hypotheses must be examined and confirmed by the trial judge.
