A serious accident occurred this night on Corso Matteotti around 12.15am. A young 23 year old girl who was crossing the road at the pedestrian crossing was mowed down by a motorbike which was traveling at high speed along the road.

The unfortunate woman suffered serious injuries. The driver did not stop and fled. The local police, who intervened immediately on the spot, are on the trail of the fugitive. The investor vehicle should be a green Kawasaki Ninja. Numerous images of the video surveillance systems have been acquired and are in the process of being acquired and it is hoped that we will soon give a face to the investor and the driver of the other motorbike who presumably was racing at speed with the investor’s vehicle, contributing to the cause of the serious accident.

From the Viale Aldo Moro command, the advice to the investor and the other motorcyclist, probably riding a Yamaha, is to spontaneously report to the Local Police in order not to further aggravate the already compromised legal position. A similar invitation is addressed to any eyewitnesses who can provide useful elements for identification.

And the advice was taken by the interested party. In fact, the hit-and-run driver who last night hit a girl who was crossing at the pedestrian crossing on Corso Matteotti in Reggio Calabria showed up at the local police headquarters late this morning. Assisted by his trusted defender, he provided his version of events. He was in fact hunted by Commander Zucco’s agents who were tightening the circle around the fugitive, also thanks to the images from the video surveillance systems.

This is a 24 year old from Reggio Calabria who had obtained the license for the vehicle driven last August. The magistrate on duty was immediately informed of the facts. The driver’s driving license was revoked. He will be reported for road injuries, escape and failure to provide assistance. The position of the other motorcyclist who has also been fully identified is also being examined. The proceeding is in the investigation phase and therefore the presumption of innocence applies until a final sentence is reached.
