Rende returns to discuss traffic in the Roges area, where the recent changes to the traffic directions continue to generate discontent among residents, motorists and part of the municipal council.
The chaos into which traffic has descended irritates residents and fuels political controversy. A new urgent question, signed by Futura’s group leader, Marco Ghionna, and addressed to the Prime Minister, the Mayor, the competent councilors and the sector manager, reignites the debate by asking for technical clarifications and the restoration of the previous structure. The changes introduced in recent months – in particular the change of direction on Via Busento towards Via Kennedy and the construction of a concrete traffic island – would, according to the signatory councillor, have significantly worsened the flow of traffic.
The intersection between Via Busento and Via Kennedy is indicated as the most problematic point: here the confluence of flows, combined with the presence of the bus stop close to the intersection, would create a “funnel effect” during rush hours, with longer queues and increased travel times. The question recalls previous documents and reiterates a series of elements considered problematic for Ghionna. Which? “The reduction of the roadway due to the traffic island, with a consequent decrease in flow capacity, the increase in flows converging on Via Kennedy, already a very busy main axis” and then “the structural congestion of the intersection, aggravated by the bus stop positioned near the junction”.
