On the proposal of the deputy mayor Giusy Iemma, with responsibility for registry services, the municipal administration led by mayor Nicola Fiorita approved the act of direction for the extraordinary Open day opening of the registry offices.
The Open Days are dedicated exclusively to the issuing of the Electronic Identity Card.
The initiative was created with the aim of accelerating the replacement of the numerous paper identity cards still in circulation, reducing waiting times and improving access to the service for citizens. In this regard, we would like to remind you that, based on the provisions of the European Union, from 3 August 2026 paper identity cards will no longer be valid.
The Open Days are reserved exclusively for citizens residing in the Municipality of Catanzaro and are aimed solely at replacing the paper identity card with the Electronic Identity Card.
The extraordinary sessions will take place both at the central headquarters and at the decentralized headquarters in the Lido district, in the afternoon on days when the ordinary opening of the offices is not scheduled.
The first days already scheduled are:
* 23, 28 and 30 April 2026
* 14, 21 and 28 May 2026
The counters will be open from 2.30pm to 5pm.
For each day the following will be available:
* 40 appointments at the headquarters in via Jannoni
* 20 appointments at the branch office in the Lido district (via del Mare n. 5/7)
Appointments can be booked the same afternoon via the totems present in the municipal offices.
The Administration also informs that starting from 4 May 2026, the activation of the online appointment booking service has also been arranged via the “Agenda CIE” platform, made available by the Ministry. You can book at the following link: https://www.prenotazionicie.interno.gov.it/
The invitation addressed to citizens is to seize this opportunity to proceed with the renewal of the document, contributing to more efficient management of the service and the progressive digitalisation of identity documents.
