On November 21st, the re-edition of «E Io ci sto» by Rino Gaetano will be released on digital, vinyl and CD for Sony Music Italy, 45 years after its publication, with the unreleased bonus track «Un film a colori (jet set)» which will be released digitally on October 29th on what would have been his 75th birthday. Published in 1980, the album is the portrait of Italy of a free and visionary artist, capable of transforming reality into a story, mixing dream and disenchantment. «And I’m in» is a ferocious satire of the world of entertainment, a criticism of conformism, an examination of the dynamics of power that is still very current. Produced and arranged by the renowned double bass player Giovanni Tommaso, the album once again demonstrated the unparalleled intellectual freedom that has always characterized Rino Gaetano’s production. It was the last album of unreleased songs before his tragic death at just 30 years old in 1981.
A taste of the unreleased bonus track is present in the film «Rino Gaetano semper blu» by Giorgio Verdelli, produced by SudOvest Produzioni and Indigo Film, in collaboration with Rai Documentari, and distributed by Medusa Film, which will be premiered at the Rome Film Festival today, 21 October, and will be in cinemas on 24, 25 and 26 November. The film is a choral and intimate portrait of the singer-songwriter, a journey through memories, interviews and voices that tell the story of the man behind the myth, celebrating his musical and cultural legacy. «E io ci sto» is a mature and intense work, deeply introspective and at the same time capable of clearly reading the Italian society of those years, which also finds an echo and relevance in the present. The celebratory edition promises to bring to the public’s attention the disarming strength and intellectual freedom of one of the greatest poets of Italian music. On October 29, in the program of celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the birth of Rino Gaetano, Anna, her sister, and Alessandro, her nephew, celebrate the singer-songwriter with a unique concert by the Rino Gaetano Band and guests at the Largo Venue in Rome. An evening conceived by the family to remember Rino’s genius, irony and freedom, a special moment for all those who continue to feel him close, as a friend, a brother, a timeless point of reference.
