Stoppage of road haulage services in Calabria starting from 9 October 2026. Fedralog Calabria announces this after the decision taken unanimously yesterday by the extraordinary meeting of associated companies. The mobilization, specifies the Federation, will take place in compliance with the essential services provided for by the legislation and the Self-regulation Code.
At the basis of the protest is the crisis of economic sustainability of the logistics sector. Fedralog is planning coordinated demonstrations in the area and has identified, among the possible areas of permanent demonstration, also the car park of the regional Citadel of Catanzaro. Formal notifications on the methods of detention will be sent to the competent Prefectures in the next few days.
Fuel, a contribution of 40 cents per liter is requested
According to the Federation, diesel prices in Calabria have reached levels close to 2.40 euros per litre, resulting in a serious lack of liquidity for businesses.
For this reason, Fedralog requests an extraordinary contribution of 0.40 euros for each liter of fuel purchased in Calabria, to be managed with an accelerated procedure through Fincalabra and to be financed with European ERDF resources. In the proposal, the refreshment should operate as a bridging measure until the required national reform on minimum costs and the automatic adjustment of tariffs to the price of fuel comes into force.
The tariff reform and the requests to Occhiuto
The fulcrum of the dispute, explains Fedralog, is an organic reform that combines the protection of minimum operating costs for safety with the automatic fuel adjustment clause, the so-called “fuel surcharge”. The Federation proposes an automated control of the adequacy of tariffs through the electronic invoicing exchange system.
According to Fedralog, the mechanism would be at zero cost for the promoting administration: the sanctions on non-compliant clients would finance the expenditure items and the funds for the logistical security of the sector.
The President of the Region Roberto Occhiuto is asked to promote, within seven days of the note, the approval by the Regional Council of a bill to be transmitted to the Chambers pursuant to article 121, second paragraph, of the Constitution. At the same time, the Federation urges the Calabrian parliamentary delegation to activate the same rule, as an amendment, in the government decree-law of 17 September indicated in the press release as being in the conversion phase.
Tax, IRAP and liquidity: the package of regional measures
Alongside the national reform, Fedralog asks the Region for a package of urgent interventions:
- Car tax: total exemption for three years for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes used in transport for third parties, with an extraordinary amnesty for arrears and long-term installment payments.
- Irap: reduction of the regional rate for companies in the sector with Ateco code 49.41.
- Renewal of vehicles: an extraordinary tender with resources from the PR Calabria Fesr to purchase tractor units powered by the renewable HVO biofuel and intermodal semi-trailers.
- Liquidity: a zero-interest Fincalabra revolving fund of up to 100 thousand euros per company and the strengthening of guarantees on bank loans.
In support of the requests, the Federation recalls the case of Sicily, where, according to what is reported in the note, extraordinary allocations of up to 50 thousand euros per company have been provided under the “de minimis” regime.
«Arrest is the last resort»
«The unanimous resolution of the Assembly illustrates the need for structural interventions that can no longer be postponed», declare the regional representatives of Fedralog, asking Occhiuto to immediately convene a permanent technical table to translate the proposals into administrative acts and start the legislative process.
«The announcement of the closure for 9 October represents the last resort to guarantee the very survival of the goods transport companies in the area. We are awaiting formal and timely feedback from the regional institutions”, concludes the Federation.
