Rogliano did not die only from Covid: over a million euros to his family

It wasn’t just Covid that caused the death of a 62-year-old man hospitalized in the hospitals of Rogliano and Germaneto during the most dramatic phase of the pandemic. This is what was ascertained during the trial which took place in the Civil Court of Cosenza and which, at the end of the first instance judgement, condemned the Cosenza-Rogliano hospital to pay compensation of one million and 150 thousand euros towards the family members of the sixty-two year old who died on 18 January 2021 after a long hospitalization in intensive care. According to the sentence of the second civil section, signed by judge Maria Giovanna De Marco, the death was determined by a series of contributing causes, including “a nosocomial infection contracted in hospital and not treated promptly according to the established health protocols”. The judges accepted the requests made by the family’s lawyer after the analysis of the clinical documentation and the medico-legal report ordered during the proceedings.
