At least two people have died in Ukraine’s northern Chernihiv region following Russian drone strikes overnight.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces announced that they had shot down 54 drones, including 40 of the Shahed type, out of a total of 78 launched by Moscow. Despite this, at least 21 drones managed to hit six different locations, the Kiev Air Force reports on Telegram, cited by Ukrinform. According to the same source, a Russian drone hit an electrician’s vehicle in the community of Semenivka, in the Chernihiv region, causing the death of two people.

In the southern region of Odessa, Russian night drone raids hit power plants and other electricity infrastructure, leaving 44 settlements without power. Emergency services, cited by Ukrainska Pravda, reported fires breaking out at a power plant and a three-story hotel and restaurant complex in Odessa. Two people were rescued, while a 47-year-old woman was injured.

Electricity has been restored on the left bank of the Dnipro River in Kiev after the massive Russian attack on Thursday night. The energy company Dtek, the largest in the country, has announced that work is continuing to completely restore the energy supply. “In Kiev the Left Bank has electricity again. We will continue to work until every family has electricity again. Thank you for your patience and support,” the company said. Dtek’s thermal power plants had been severely damaged in the attack. According to Ukrainska Pravda, at 7 pm yesterday the water supply had already been completely restored in all neighborhoods of the capital.
