They were published on the institutional website of the Municipality of Santa Margherita di Belice (Agrigento) The stories of the 36 students who participated in the literary competition “The workshop of the story”, the teaching and territorial ‘rib’ of the “Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa” award Dedicated to the young authors who, from 16 to 18 July, met scholars and writers in three evenings, with thematic tables, curated and conducted by Margherita Cacioppo, coordinator of the “Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa” institution.

Among the themes covered by the boys in their works also the earthquake of 1968, by the memories of grandparents and relatives who lived that experience in the first person to the memory fragments in a land that still shows the wounds of that tragedy.

Among the other topics also addressed the stories of some young migrants who landed in Sicily, where they now live and study, with reflections that also refer to what is happening on the other bank of the Mediterranean and the drama of the children of Gaza.

And again: the desire to keep alive the memory linked to the traditions and places described and lived by Giuseppe Tomasi of Lampedusa, the gaze on himself inspired by the poetics of Elsa dying and the recovery of popular stories told by Danilo Dolci.

The works in question can be read and voted online until tomorrow, and there is also a jury of experts who has already examined and evaluated the texts. The award ceremony of the young authors who participate in the “L’Officina del Tale” competition will take place on the evening of Friday 1 August, the eve of the gala evening during which it will be delivered to Alberto Anile And Maria Gabriella Giannice The twentieth literary prize “Giueppe Tomasi di Lampedusa”, for their book entitled “Operation Gattopardo, as Visconti transformed a right novel into a left success”, published by Feltrinelli, the same publishing house that published the masterpiece of Giuseppe Tomasi of Lampedusa, transforming “the Leopard” into the most read and translated in the world. And precisely this year the Feltrinelli Foundation celebrates 70 years from its Foundation, and will be present in Santa Margheility Belìce for the international literary prize.
