Scalea airfield, controversy between mayors

The story of the Scalea airstrip is becoming increasingly thorny. The mayor of Santa Maria Del Cedro brought the complex events of the structure back into the spotlight yesterday, Ugo Veterewho is also president of the Pact and the territorial Gal. This is by virtue of a controversial letter sent to the mayor James Perrotta and, for information, to the colleagues concerned. In particular, Mayor Vetere responded to a letter sent by Mayor Perrotta the day before to the same mayors, commenting on some statements made by Mayor Vetere himself. “A sortie of dubious administrative courtesy by the Mayor of Santa Maria del Cedro on the airstrip issue”, Mayor Perrotta had, in fact, written to his colleagues.
«Recently, I stated that all the mayors of the territory are satisfied with the fact that the citizens of the Alto Tirreno Cosenza area can reclaim an important infrastructure. And I have never denied, nor concealed, that the airstrip was built with the money from the Territorial Pact but, as a representative of the entity that owns the structure, I had to implement, and I implemented, all the necessary actions to free it, actions that have resisted before the TAR. Almost 16 years of silence have passed on the management of the airstrip and the writer did not hold any public office. As mayor of Scalea, of my city, I am proud of what I have done, which I would do again a thousand times. Now all the mayors of the Territorial Pact can say that a public good is free again and be happy about it. Obviously, all except one and I am sorry about that. But I will go my way to defend my city and the entire territory”.
