Two people were referred to in a state of freedom in the context of a joint operation between the Carabinieri Station of Scilla and the Customs Agency and Monopoli (ADM) of Reggio Calabriaaimed at contrasting illegal game and the protection of minors.
During a check in a recreational circle, the military seized six illegal slot machines, not connected to the network of the Customs Agency and Monopolies, and a laptop used for online betting on unauthorized foreign sites. The seized material will be subjected to further investigations to check for any connections with wider illegal game circuits.
The inspection activity revealed that the club operated without any authorization for the marketing of games, violating current legislation. In addition to the absence of authorizations, the exercise did not comply with minimal measures of security and access control, exposing the visitors, including minors, to potential risks. For this, the two subjects were reported for abusive exercise of gambling and administratively sanctioned.
The operation is part of the activities of contrasting the illegal game and of the protection of citizens, with particular attention to minors and the safety of the sector. The Carabinieri Arma and the Customs and Monopolies Agency continue to monitor the territory to identify and repress any illegal activities related to gambling, which represent an economic and social risk for the community.
The investigations are still ongoing and, as required by law, for the suspects the principle of presumption of innocence is worth up to the final sentence.
