Security, inclusion and no ghettos: in Lamezia the spotlight is on the “Roma issue”

Between security and inclusion, the “Scordovillo” issue with the project of integrating the “Roma” community by overcoming the logic of the ghetto remains under the spotlight. In fact, the “Intrecci – Let’s live in Lametino” project, aimed at the social integration of the Roma population, continues. The project process, which has been underway for several months, is implementing the accompaniment paths for Roma families and citizens who currently live in the Scordovillo area, in order to seek widespread housing solutions in the area. Promoted by the Progetto Sud Community together with a network of many other entities involved in social, cultural and educational matters, in collaboration with bodies and institutions, “Intrecci – Let’s live in Lamezzo” has the aim of building from the bottom “a welcoming and inclusive community, where Lamezia people of Roma origin and non-Roma people live next to each other”, explain the promoters of the project. «A community – they underline – is built together. Home, school, culture, work, health, inclusion, community are all stages of a shared journey.”
