“The territory of the city of Messina has recently been hit by violent atmospheric events and cyclones which have aggravated the already precarious conditions in various areas characterized by the presence of shacks. Numerous families are currently evicted or are living in conditions of serious housing hardship, with properties rendered unusable or structurally compromised. Today I asked for the immediate activation of the regulatory exemptions for the census of the shacks declared unusable following Cyclone Harry and for the urgent assignment of available accommodation. many families evicted, minors and elderly people forced to live in conditions unworthy of a civil community. Despite the absolute urgency of the issue, the president of the Sanitation Commission did not consider convening the body. In the face of an emergency of this magnitude, this institutional silence represents a politically serious and incomprehensible fact families who live in shacks or who have been evicted cannot wait for the times of bureaucracy or those of politics”. This was stated by Cosimo Oteri, group leader of Lega – Italia Prima in the Municipality of Messina.
