NSW Police responded to reports of a shooter opening fire on Bondi Beach. In a social media post, police called the incident an “ongoing incident”, urging the public to avoid the area. “Anyone at the scene should take cover.”
The images shared on social media, explains the Daily Star, show a massive police intervention in the area, frequented by locals and tourists. Witnesses said a man got out of a vehicle in Campbell Parade and opened fire. Further footage from the scene shows two people dressed in black shooting on the beach.
In a further update, NSW Police said: “Please share our message for members of the public to avoid the Bondi Beach area while the police operation continues” and “we are still asking people in the area to take shelter until we are able to determine what is happening.”

The news was reported by the Daily Mail. In Bondi there was a large crowd at the time for the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah, also known as Chanukah.
