Thirteen million euros for interventions to adapt, repurpose and restructure public buildings to be used for the provision of non-residential services for minors, or daytime social gathering centers aimed at the population aged 4-18 for the performance of socio-educational and recreational activities.

The funds, under the European program Pr Sicilia Fesr 2021-2027 (Action 4.3.1 “A more inclusive Sicily”), will be assigned by the Department of Family and Social Policies of the Sicilian Region, which has published a notice addressed to the Municipalities of the Island and their associations, consortia, unions, even those associated with other public bodies.

“Through integrated actions that concern housing and social services – says the Councilor for Social Policies, Nuccia Albano – we intend to promote the socioeconomic inclusion of marginalized communities, low-income families and disadvantaged groups, including people with special needs. Offering citizens efficient non-residential services means preventing youth marginalization, separation from their family unit and allowing minors to enjoy places where they can use their free time, after school hours, with recreational and social activities, promoting well-being and gender equality, combating marginalization”.
