Three million euros were allocated by the Sicilian Region to urgent extraordinary maintenance interventions in Sicilian schools. This is established by a circular implementing the Regional Department of Education and Professional Training which gives the green light to the overall funding and establishes the methods for the request for the sums. We intervene to remove the imminent risks and compromises conditions of liveability of the environments and guarantee the continuity of the school activity, public safety, hygiene and safety of buildings. As specified in the circular, available on the Region website at this link, the maximum amount that can be financed for each intervention is 40 thousand euros, without prejudice to any further sums that will be paid by the budget of the local authority owner of the school building. “The Regional Department of Education – explains Councilor Mimmo Turano – has a competence in the subject of school construction limited to the financing of the works only, while the municipalities, the metropolitan cities, the free consortia and the owners of the buildings must be carried out. With this measure we intervene on the level of liquidity, to allow local authorities and schools to field, as soon as possible, the works necessary to guarantee the safety of buildings and the performance of educational activities without dangers “. “Until today – adds the commissioner – to improve the quality of buildings and common areas, such as gyms, auditoriums, canteens and workshops, we have allocated 53 million euros, convinced that the quality of the structures contributes to raising the training offer in our schools and reducing school leaving”. The financing requests, accompanied by skill (executive level project) and the related approvals/authorizations, must be sent to the following certified e -mail box: (email protected). The acceptance of the requests will take place in chronological order of arrival.
