More than a million minors are in conditions of absolute poverty in Italy. Among other things, with a disturbing reversal of age compared to the past, because twenty years ago it was the elderly who were most exposed to poverty. Today, however – according to Istat data collected and processed by Openpolis – the most affected are boys and girls in large families, in single-parent households and in those with an unemployed or blue-collar father or mother. In fact, with the cost of living constantly rising, even families who bring home only one salary are finding it increasingly difficult to get by. And as happens with other similar situations, there are multiple Italys.
