A day of sport, commitment and solidarity that lived on October 5, 2025 at the CONI school camp in Cosenza, theater of the event “A ride of the track for Polio”, promoted by the Rotary Club Mendicino Serre Cosentine as part of the “End Polio Now” world campaign.
The initiative has been able to combine energy, participation and civic spirit, with a concrete objective: to raise funds for the global struggle against Poliomielite, a disease that Rotary International has been fighting for decades with determination and tangible results.
A mosaic of sport and civil commitment
Numerous associative and institutional realities took part in the event: US ACLI, Coni, Fidal, ACLI Calabria, Asd K42 Cosenza, Imarcos together with the “Raimondo Reda” musical band of Menicino and the fanfare of the Bersaglieri, who contributed to making the event a real community party.
After the initial greetings, the day opened in the presence of civil, institutional and Rotarian authorities. Among the most significant interventions, that of the president of the Rotary Club Mendicino Serre Cosentine, Sabrina Sinicropi, who underlined the importance of combining forces for a common goal: “Only together – he recalled – can we continue to build a future free from polio”.
The governor of District 2102, Dino De Marco, reiterated the central role of Rotary in the international countryside of the disease, while Alessandro Tortorella, president of the Polio Plus commission, illustrated the progress achieved and the challenges still open.
A message of shared hope
“A ride of the pole’s track” was not only a sporting event, but also a universal message of hope and responsibility. Each step taken on the track represented a small concrete gesture towards a global objective: a world finally free from polio.
The day ended between applause, smiles and great participation, with the awareness that solidarity, when it moves in synergy with sport and culture, can really make a difference.
An event that has left its mark, confirming how the Cosenza community knows how to respond enthusiastically and generosity to the great challenges of our time.
