In conjunction with the intensification of the movements for the summer exodus, the Traffic Police has prepared, in implementation of the shared directives in the field of viability Italy, a massive control plan along the main motorway and extra -urban arteries of the Catanzaro province. The activity, aimed at guaranteeing the safety of circulation and preventing road claims, has seen an increase in the patrols used on the road.
During the weekends of the month of July, there were numerous infringements ascertained for violations that seriously compromise road safety. Among these, they report in particular:
• failure to compulsory insurance coverage,
• the omitted periodic revision of the vehicle,
• the non -use of seat belts by driver and passengers,
• The improper use of the mobile phone while driving.
On the latter aspect, the attention of road users is strongly drawn: the use of the cell phone without speakerphone or auricular represents one of the main causes of distraction behind the wheel and can constitute a serious danger for itself and for others. It is therefore invited to adopt hands-free devices, for the benefit of one’s own and others’ security.
The control activities will continue throughout the summer, with particular attention also to commercial vehicles, to compliance with the speed limits, the correct use of the lanes of travel and the contrast of driving in a state of intoxication or under the effect of drugs.
The traffic police renews the invitation to all citizens to travel in adequate psycho-physical conditions, with vehicles in order and efficiency, and in compliance with the rules of the highway code.
It is also recommended to plan the movements in time, in order to avoid the inconvenience due to the intense traffic of the summer exodus periods and reduce travel times, contributing to a safer and orderly mobility for everyone.
