The Port Authority of Porto di Gioia Tauro, in collaboration with the Naval Operational Section of the Guardia di Finanza of Reggio Calabria, led an operation that took place both by sea with the patrol boat CP 827 of the Coast Guard of Gioia Tauro, and by land With a team of the Guardia di Finanza and one of the Capitaneria. In fact, a pleasure unit has been identified intent on practicing fishing activities not allowed a few meters from the shore. The fishermen were surprised while they used a tree -like network about 900 meters long, a tool forbidden for sport fishing.
The detention and use of the non -permitted fishing tool that was consequently seized is contested to the transgressors. The catch was donated to the local Caritas, thus also contributing to an initiative to support the community.
