The 2024 Gente di Mare Award edition closes with awards to journalist Tonino Fortuna and internationally renowned cardiologist Pasquale Nestico

The 2024 edition of the award closes Sea people which was born under the gaze of the figure of San Francesco di Paola, patron saint of sailors, emigrants and fishermen. The award is inspired by the saint and is punctually represented artistically by the goldsmith Michele Affidato, the sculptor Michele Zappino and the master Yuri Kuko. The award aims to promote people who have distinguished themselves in the fields of science, culture, medicine, journalism, entrepreneurship, music and entertainment. After the recognitions that the scientific committee of the award (composed of Dr. Franco Torchia, Dr. Francesco La Torre, Cav. Pino Colloca, Mons. Peppino Fiorillo, Mr. Gianfranco Schiavone, the sculptor Michele Zappino) to Cav. Pippo Callipo, the biologist Fulvia Gioffré, the oncologist surgeon Vincenzo Greco, Prof. Giuseppe Farina and Professor Luis Ponga, to close the days dedicated to this prize of the Angitolano born four years ago was the delivery of the Bronzes of the Sculptor Zappino and the Ukrainian master Yuri Kuko to the established journalist and director of the web newspaper Zoom 24 Tonino Fortunaa leading figure in studies on Leopardi, a reference pen for several newspapers on online newspapers as well as for the Gazzetta del Sud which for the occasion told his professional career as well as his teaching at high schools to the numerous attendees in the council chamber of the municipality of Francavilla Angitola, in the presence of the mayor, lawyer Giuseppe Pizzonia, who did the honors of the house. A room well attended also by the members of the Chapter Filitalia International of Vibo Valentia, chaired by lawyer Michele La Rocca given the presence of the illustrious cardiologist Prof. Pasquale Nestico who works in Philadelphia (in the States) but originally from Isca sullo Jonio whose social commitment makes the whole of Calabria proud. The two characters were applauded openly with the motivations read by Cav. Pino Colloca and the conclusions of Dr. Franco Torchia.
