Gabriele Alviano didn’t make it. The 41-year-old from Porto Salvo, rescue driver of the 118 who was seriously injured on Sunday in a motorbike accident along the former state road 522, died this evening. His heart stopped beating yesterday evening, after a desperate struggle that lasted hours. The news that arrived in the evening shook the entire community and the world of the health emergency. On Sunday, shortly after lunchtime, Gabriele was reaching his duty station on his motorbike: he should have taken the shift and started driving the ambulance, as he did every day, to help those in need. But along the way, near the Briatico area, his motorbike violently collided with a car.
