A 58-year-old man, Rocco Modafferi (originally from Gioia Tauro, in the province of Reggio Calabria), was arrested on charges of having killed, yesterday in Pontirolo Nuovo, the forty-two-year-old Roberto Guerrisi (also originally from Gioia Tauro)from Boltiere, in the province of Bergamo. This is the uncle of the boyfriend of one of Guerrisi’s three daughters. The quarrel between the two families (both Calabrian), at the height of which Guerrisi was killed by gunshots, was apparently caused by the mistreatment of Guerrisi’s daughter by her boyfriend.
The reconstruction
Corriere della Sera describes what happened. Guerrisi had a compatriot wife and three daughters aged 15, 18 and 22. The man had lived in the Bergamo area for over twenty years. According to the investigators’ initial reconstruction, everything arose from problems in the relationship between one of Guerrisi’s daughters and a boy who belongs to another Calabrian family, which owns “DB Car”, a company that has been on the same main road for two years. between Pontirolo and Boltiere and specializes in the sale and rental of cars.
The girl said she had suffered mistreatment from her boyfriend. But Roberto Guerrisi still decided to go and ask the boy’s family for an account of what happened. Yesterday morning he would have gone to the dealership and an argument would have arisen from there. A discussion ended with the promise that he would return and also accompany him. A few hours later, a few steps from the dealership gate, the neighbors see some stopped cars and some people. At that point, groups begin to face each other, most likely belonging to the families of the two young people.
«I was in the house – a witness tells Corsera – when I heard loud shouts, it was clear that some men were arguing – says a neighbor -. As soon as I opened the door to understand what was happening I heard two gunshots, one after the other, in rapid succession. So I went back in and called for help.”
«When I looked out the window – the neighbor continues – I saw a man with his face covered in blood walking away supported by another man. They reached the Tbso shelter, then the injured man collapsed to the ground. A third man gave him a cardiac massage.”
