Anthropic collects another 65 billion dollars from the latest round of fundraising and sees its valuation rise to 965 billion: it surpasses its rival OpenAI which stands at 852 billion and becomes the most valuable artificial intelligence startup in Silicon Valley.
Series H financing and investors
The company, whose IPO is expected in the coming months, assured that the new Series H financing “will help us meet the historic demand we are experiencing, remain at the forefront of research and bring Claude into more work contexts”, commented Krishna Rao, chief financial officer of Anthropic, in a note.
The surprise is that the latest round of resources raised, led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks and Sequoia Capital, has allowed the company’s valuation to almost triple compared to February, when it was estimated at 380 billion. OpenAI, on the other hand, has been stuck at 852 billion since the end of March, after closing record financing of 122 billion.
Revenues tripled: run rate at 47 billion
Anthropic’s revenues exploded thanks to its AI-based programming assistant, Claude: the “run rate”, the annual revenue projection based on current results, stood at 47 billion, up from the 30 billion reported at the beginning of the year and the 10 billion totaled in 2025.
The new models: Claude Opus 4.8 and Mythos Preview
Today, by the way, the company released its latest model: Claude Opus 4.8. Anthropic also caught Wall Street’s attention by unveiling the Claude Mythos Preview, a model with advanced cybersecurity capabilities currently only available to a select group of companies. “Claude is becoming increasingly indispensable to our growing global community of customers, and as such, we are determinedly working to make tools like Claude Code and Cowork even more useful, powerful and adaptable to their needs,” added Rao.
