The ambassador of Kosovo in Italy on an institutional visit to the Province of Cosenza

The official visit of the Ambassador of Kosovo to Italy, HE, took place yesterday Nita Shalato the Province of Cosenza. The meeting, aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and promoting cooperation between Kosovo and Italy, saw the participation of a delegation of mayors from the Arbëreshë communities of the Cosenza area.
The High Diplomat was received by the President of the Province of Cosenza, Rosaria Succurrowith whom he had a first private meeting in the President’s Office during which they discussed issues of common relevance, including the strengthening of commercial, cultural and educational relations, as well as the promotion of initiatives between the two territories.
The public meeting, in the presence of the Arbëreshë Mayors and the Institution’s Managers, took place in the splendid Hall of Mirrors, whose beauty and architectural importance was greatly appreciated by the Ambassador.
President Succurro warmly thanked SE Nita Shala for the great attention she intended to reserve for our province on the occasion of her first visit to Calabria, «a province, that of Cosenza, in which the arbëreshë community is the largest in Calabria – underlined Rosaria Succurro – with 21 municipalities out of thirty in total». The President also recalled the bond of friendship that has long existed between the Republic of Kosovo and the Province of Cosenza, also sealed by the Friendship Pact made with the City of Peja.
All the Mayors present paid homage to the Ambassador with their welcome speeches and inviting her to visit their communities, places that preserve the roots, memory, language and customs of the origins while being deeply integrated with the Calabrian and more widespread Italian reality general.
«It is essential to develop a collaboration network that can bring mutual benefits and encourage the exchange of ideas and experiences between our communities», declared the Ambassador, adding that «Kosovo and Italy share common values ​​and a history that it must be cultivated through dialogue and cooperation.” Finally, Nita Shala expressed her appreciation for Italy and Calabria, in particular for the Cosenza area, “an area where it is easy to feel at home”.
