A nightmare almost twenty years. A vortex of abuses, barrels, humiliations and sexual violence, consumed within the home and silent for fear. It is the dramatic story of a woman from Polistena who, after 19 years of forced silence, found the strength to report her husband, delivering to the carabinieri a chilling story of harassment and terror.
The violence, according to reports from the victim, would began in 2006 and over time they would have taken on increasingly brutal forms: physical aggressions, intimate abuses and economic violence that folded the whole family, imposing a daily life marked by fear and humiliation. The woman, crushed by years of threats and overwhelming, was forced to resort to psychiatric care in order to endure an atmosphere of submission that seemed to have no end.
The complaint, courageously presented to the carabinieri of the Polistena station, opened the road to an investigation under the guidance of the Palmi prosecutor. The “Red Code” was triggered, the tool that guarantees absolute priority to cases of domestic and gender violence.
Man must now respond to very serious crimes: mistreatment in the family, sexual violence and persecutory acts. A picture that, according to the military of the weapon, describes a subject capable of making their home a place of terror. The danger of the conduct and the concrete risk that the crimes could repeat themselves led the judge to have the most severe measure for him: the precautionary custody in prison.
