The Board of Directors of the Criminal Chamber of Cosenza proposed to name a classroom of the Palazzo di Giustizia in memory of Father Fedele Bisceglia, the friar Cosentino who passed away in recent days, definitively acquitted of the accusations that had overwhelmed him years ago.

The decision, communicated yesterday, was born from the desire to remember the judicial affair of the religious, considered emblematic of an unjust condemnation. A procedural path that, according to the lawyer, left deep “stigmata” in the community, compared to those of Enzo Tortora, also the victim of a judicial error.

The Franciscan oasis and the commitment to the last
Father Fedele has long been known as the “patronage of the invisibles” and founder of the Franciscan Oasis, a welcome house for the poor and forgotten. The friar, defined by many “ultrà friars” for his visceral love towards Cosenza Calcio, spent most of his life in support of the last, both in the city and in Africa.

The request: “Because it never happens again”
The criminal chamber proposed that the classroom in which the process was celebrated is named after Father Fedele, “so that it never happens again” that an innocent person is deprived of freedom and dignity. An initiative that, according to the promoters, would represent a permanent warning against judicial errors and a posthumous recognition to the sacrifice of the religious.
