The new duties hit hard on the Italian agro -algrain: the new rates would put one in five provinces at risk and the most affected in absolute terms are Salerno, Milan and Cuneo.
Among the most fragile also Grosseto, Sassari and Nuoro. All territories with large exports of olive oil, Roman pecorino, wine, cheeses, ham, alcoholic beverages, but also of worked and preserved fruit and vegetables and other products such as sugar, cocoa, confectionery. This is what emerges from a report by the Italian Cia-Agricultori Study Office in particular in the list of high-risk provinces, there are 21 (out of a total of 107) whose exports of food to the United States generate a value of more than 100 million euros. But 7 are the most exposed territories in absolute terms: Salerno, 518 million euros of exports to the USA, between worked fruit and vegetables and tomato preserves, as well as sugar, cocoa and various condiments; Milan, 422 million euros, with an aperitif alcoholic beverages in the foreground; Cuneo, queen of the exports of wines with almost 400 million euros sold in the US by the Cantine of the Albese, the Langhe and the Roero (Barolo and Barbaresco, primarily); Bergamo, over 374 million especially alcoholic beverages; Treviso, Prosecco delle hills of Valdobbiadene (355 million); Parma, 306 million with cheeses and ham; Florence, 285 million between wine and olive oil.
For the provinces most exposed in export percentage values in the USA on the total world they include: Grosseto, olive oil, 71% of all agri -food sales of the province; Sassari, Nuoro and South Sardinia, 65%, 66% and 44% of Roman pecorino, used overseas by the food industry to flavor chips in envelope and other snacks; Catanzaro, 42% between processed and preserved fruit and vegetables and other food products (sugar, cocoa, confectionery, condiments and spices, ready dishes, etc.); Siena, 34% wine and olive oil; Rome, 33% vegetable oils and fats and wine. At the regional level in 2024 Lombardy, with over a billion euros, was the first for agri -food export value towards the USA (15% of incidence on the national total) followed by Tuscany, which sent in the USA about 14% of the national total with an annual value also greater than billion euros, and by Emilia Romagna, with a value sold of over 995 million euros (13% of the Italian total). Among the southern regions, the performance of Campania is reported, over 900 million euros and 12% of agri -food exports made in Italy in the USA.
