Compared to the last municipal council and the majority in the municipal council that governed the city of Reggio Calabria, several big names in city politics remained outside Palazzo San Giorgio after the last elections which decreed the victory of the centre-right.
There is nothing to be done for the former acting mayor and outgoing councilor for Public Works, Paolo Brunetti. For him fourth position in the PD list, behind the three elected members Malara, Marino and Versace, with 791 votes. Not even Lucia Anita Nucera, outgoing councilor for Welfare, could make it, stopping at 759 votes. Outside, among others, also the president of the municipal council Vincenzo Marra, the councilor in charge of water and sewerage, road and cemeteries maintenance, Franco Barreca. Two women who in the past held the role of councilor are also left out: Angela Martino and Anna Maria Briante. There is also nothing to be done for the outgoing Environment Councilor Filippo Burrone, candidate in the La Svolta list in which the outgoing Councilor Carmelo Romeo was elected instead. The outgoing councilor with responsibility for Sport, Giovanni Latella, is also out, having stopped at 401 votes in the Reset list. Giuseppe Cuzzocrea also attempted to be reconfirmed on the Reformist House list, but was beaten by another outgoing councillor, Filippo Quartuccio. Another outgoing councilor, Santo Bongani, is also out.
In the centre-right
Battle to the last vote for the outgoing councilor Nino Zimbalatti with Rocco Lascala (the two, as also reported in the columns of our newspaper, are tied at 953 votes!). Nothing to be done for the outgoing councilor Armando Neri, stuck at 408 preferences on the League list. In the Noi Moderati list, the former regional councilor Nicola Paris had to give way to the outgoing councilor Mario Cardia.
