Ban on practicing the medical-health profession for 12 months: it is the interdictory measure that has been issued against the head doctor of the Pediatrics department of the Locri hospital Antonio Musolinoaccused of embezzlement, fraud against the State, false certifications and refusal of official documents. The order was issued by the investigating judge at the request of the Locri Prosecutor’s Office led by Giuseppe Casciaro.
The disqualification provision arises from the investigations carried out by the financial police of the Locri group which led the prosecutors to also order the head doctor against preventive seizure of medical equipment as well as the sum of 40,532 euros.
According to what emerged from the investigations of the yellow flames, the medical director he would have systematically stolen an ultrasound machine supplied to the hospital department he directed for personal purposesdonated by the Locrian community. The head physician, in fact, despite being linked to the Asp of Reggio Calabria by an exclusive employment relationship, would have carried out unauthorized extra-moenia professional activity in some private medical practicesusing the ultrasound machine of the hospital department he managed and falsely certifying to the health authority that he was, instead, in the Locri hospital to provide “additional services”.
The Asp, by virtue of a specific choice by Musolino, also paid the so-called “exclusivity allowance” to the same professional under investigationan additional emolument provided for all medical managers who choose to provide their professional activity exclusively for the benefit of the healthcare company they belong to.
Furthermore, during the investigations, it emerged that in a specific circumstance the head physician, despite being on “availability” shift, he would have unduly refused to intervene in aid of another medical director of the department he directed who had requested his intervention to manage an emergency relating to a patient. The sum seized from the professional corresponds to what the head physician would have unduly received between “additional services” and “exclusivity compensation”.
When the interdiction order was executed, the financiers caught the doctor red-handed while he was visiting a patient in a private practice in the province using the hospital’s ultrasound machine.
