The International Academy of Modern Cuisine was born in the heart of Spilinga, considered an attractive hub for international tourism. Corrado Rossi is the new director. A young manager with a passion for food, Rossi founded his first Cooking Academy in 2015, Ambassador of the Mediterranean Diet and among the youngest food and wine experts in the Calabrian panorama. Curator of important national events for well-known brands and important public institutions, he is the creator of the “Maccaroni Chef Academy”
leader in the training sector, management and large events.
“For me it is a great pride and a great responsibility. Here, you will come to learn the basics of the trade, and learn the techniques with which to work to give merit and to make Mediterranean cuisine great. The Academy is open to all, we aim above all to attract tourist flows in the summer period, but not only”, explains Rossi.
“'The intent is to create a real attractive center for what we today define as cultural tourism. The future has an ancient heart, and we define ourselves as true “guardians of tradition” says Rossi.
A project idea started by the then mayor Franco Barbalace, now in the role of deputy mayor and delegate for continuation, based on the creation of a real school for the diffusion of Mediterranean cuisine. “A project in which we believe so much – underline the mayor Enzo Marasco and the deputy mayor Barbalace on behalf of the entire administration – for the strong tourism-employment impact that it could have on our small municipality. We are convinced that Spilinga has all the characteristics to be fully included in tourist circuits, from the geographical aspect, being next to Capo Vaticano and Tropea, to the purely specific ones such as food and wine and nature routes. We will have to work a lot in this direction, but we are convinced that we have a team with strong potential, which can help us achieve many goals. In fact, there are many projects in the pipeline that we will gradually present.”
Closing, director Rossi declares: “I'm sure that initiatives like this create in us young people the hope of a different, better Calabria; let's remember, however, that luck doesn't exist but there is the moment in which talent meets opportunity. D' after all, those who believe in dreams create dreams!”
