Rediscover spirituality through nature. Vincenzo Zitello uses the Canticle of the Creatures of Saint Francis to embark on a journey to reawaken the soul. The sounds of his harp mix with those of the violin Fulvio Renzi and the result is a journey to rediscover perhaps primordial sounds. The last appointment of Zitello and Renzi’s mini tour on the occasion of the seventeenth edition of “Notes for Lucia” will be held tonight at 8.00 pm in the church of San Pietro Apostolo in Syracusethe musical initiative organized by the Kairos company and the Deputation of the Chapel of Santa Lucia for the Feast of the Syracuse martyr. Last night concert at the Mother Church of Carlentini and last Thursday at the Maria SS church. Immaculate in Belpasso (Catania). These are the three cities that will be visited by the arrival of the body of Saint Lucia, which is kept in Venice, and will arrive in Sicily on Saturday 14 December.
Vincenzo Zitello, composer, concert performer and first popularizer of the Celtic harp in Italy, composed the concert “Civiltà Celesti” where he alternates the Celtic harp and the bardic harp, two instruments of the Gaelic tradition with different sound and expressive characteristics. With Fulvio Renzi the task of evoking the four elements of the Song in a path that evokes the Wind, the Serene, the Swallow, the Fire, the Stars.
“The canticle of Saint Francis brings us back to nature and to rediscovering spirituality through nature – explains Zitello -. I played for 50 years with Franco Battiato and the many years of spiritual research come to mind. We must be and not just appear as today’s young people want. And then I use the harp which is 5 thousand years old. The Celtic harp (“clasach” in Gaelic) is the oldest European polyphonic instrument: it was born in Ireland and Scotland in the 11th century AD by the first Christian monks, and was built to accompany psalms, prayers and meditations, with its 28 strings all in metal (bronze, iron, gold), a characteristic that differs from the continental European harp to the most modern ones, which use strings of animal or synthetic origin”. Zitello has collaborated among others with artists of the caliber of Ivano Fossati, Pooh, Claudio Rocchi, Dino Betti.
Fulvio Renzi, violinist, composer, boasts collaborations with Roger Waters, Bruce Springsteen, Ornella Vanoni, Alejandro Escovedo: “The approach is spiritual and emotional. But not only on our part – explains Renzi -. Something happens to the people who listen to us, which shakes us and those who listen to us.” The concerts are promoted in collaboration with the “San Methodisto” Higher Institute of Religious Sciences, the municipalities of Syracuse, Belpasso and Carlentini and the Sicilian Region.
