The mayor of Messina, Federico Basile, invites his colleague from Novara di Sicilia, Girolamo Bertolani, to suspend the hunger strike started two days ago to protest against the inertia on the part of Anas regarding the works on state road 185, in the territory of Francavilla di Sicilia.
Basile spoke to Bertolami by telephone and specifies, in his capacity as metropolitan mayor, that «with regard to the evident delay in the work to restore the damage caused by a flood, nothing can be done by the metropolitan administration. However, I would like to underline the need to give voice and team up among us administrators to have immediate answers and interventions in all those circumstances in which the inertia is attributable to other bodies”. «Although I understand the objective difficulties that works of this type present, and I know well how it is not easy to respect the deadlines, I believe – he adds – that it is appropriate for Anas to provide the mayors with clear information with specific start times and conclusion of the works, given that we often talk about road segments of vital importance for the economy and development of our territories, in addition to the need to guarantee normal liveability and mobility”.
