The “Nicola Antonio Manfroce” Friends of Music Association of Palmi celebrates half a century of activity

To celebrate the milestone achieved, conferences, exhibitions, concerts and theatrical and musical performances are planned. On Wednesday 15 October in the “Manfroce” theater which is located in the heart of the Tyrrhenian town, a musical melody dedicated to the legend of “Donna Canfora will be staged which will see the famous Roman composer and pianist Fabrizio de Rossi Re and the actress Annalisa Insardà on stage. The following day a mythological musical action will be proposed, in an absolute first performance, dedicated to the legend of Glaucus and Scylla, inspired by the Metamorphoses by Ovid. The lyrics and music are by de Rossi Re; on stage Leonardo Gambardella, Annalisa Insardà, Merita Cala and Maria Chiara Forte. Then it will be the turn of the great international pianists Giuseppe Albanese (17 October) and Roberto Cappello (18 October), the Palmese duo Francesco and Vincenzo De Stefano (25 October) and Giuseppe Gullotta (1 November).

Then a series of concerts with the “Nazzareno Scerra” wind orchestra, with 90 musicians, with the saxophonist Mario Marzi, principal saxophone of La Scala, (21 October), the orchestras of the “Fausto Torrefranca” conservatories of Vibo (17 November); “Francesco Cilea” of Reggio Calabria (13 December).

On November 17th, the “Mammut” company will present a theatrical transposition of the novel La ricotta bianca, by the famous Palmese fabulist Letterio Di Francia, fresh from the recognition issued by the Metropolitan City as the first work of the year.

The celebrations for the fiftieth anniversary will continue with the shows of the actors Dario De Luca, Dario Natale and Monica Guerritore, also of Palmese origin. Finally, a special Afternoon of Music is reserved for music enthusiasts, eight concerts which will be held at 6.00 pm, precisely to facilitate the participation of the elderly.
