The regional councilor of Calabria Francesco Afflitto left the 5 Star Movement to join the Misto group. The decision was communicated with a letter to the leader of the movement Giuseppe Conte and to the president of the Calabrian Assembly Filippo Mancuso. According to what has been learned, the choice was caused by disagreements with the group leader of the movement. Afflitto’s move to the mixed group was harshly commented on by parliamentarians and M5S coordinators from Calabria.
«We note from the newspapers – they write in a note – that Afflitto has decided to abandon the 5 Star Movement to embrace the Mixed Group, confirming a path already traced for some time. In recent years, Afflitto has demonstrated a constant incompatibility with our principles, systematically voting with the center-right and disinterested in the requests of citizens and members. His institutional role was inactive and his absence from the political life of the Movement was evident.” «His choice, far from being a surprise – continue the five-star parliamentarians – frees us from a burden. Now we can focus on our work, without having to justify inconsistent behavior. We do not intend to fall into sterile provocations. However, we can confirm that the 5 Star Movement in Calabria remains united and determined to serve the citizens, with transparency and honesty.”
