The “stamp tax” is back which will allow taxpayers to regularize unpaid positions, in whole or in part, by 31 December 2025 without incurring penalties and interest; interested citizens will thus be able to make the payments and complete the necessary formalities to comply by 31 October 2026.
The measure will be operational in a few weeks, when the implementing decree of the regional councilor for the economy, already in the preparation phase, will be issued. The rule which extends the concessions for the payment of car tax, for taxes on government concessions and for other property revenues of the Region, was published last 14 August in the Official Journal of the Sicilian Region and in fact implements the possibilities introduced by the state budget law which recognized the Regions with the right to autonomously regulate forms of facilitated definition of their own revenues.
The measure, already adopted in the past thanks to regional competences in the field of taxes, will be active for submitting a request only after the issuing of the operational methods defined by the department’s provision. «My government – declares the President of the Region, Renato Schifani – promotes a citizen-friendly tax system and, for this reason, we have accepted the proposal to introduce the “stamp rag” again this year. The success of the previous measure pushed us to propose it again, offering families and taxpayers the possibility of spontaneously regularizing their position without the additional burden of sanctions and interest. It is a concrete way to simplify the relationship between citizens and the administration and, at the same time, encourage the recovery of sums owed to the Region.”
