First goal and first home victory for Messina, who broke the deadlock at the “Franco Scoglio” in the most awaited match of the season. Roseti scored the 1-0 with which the Giallorossi won the Strait derby against Reggina, the first in Serie D history.
After the initial study phase and a guest shot from Correnti, Messina earns three consecutive corners and from Tesija’s third comes Roseti’s winning header (17′), which makes the Peloritani fans explode with joy. We await the amaranth reaction, but the attempts of Correnti and Mungo miss the target. At the end of the first half, another corner from Tesija with a deflection from Trasciani who goes just wide, while in the 46th minute the last conclusion comes from Reggina with Correnti, who shoots high.
In the second half it was the Calabrians who had to chase and tried to increase the pace and pressure, but in the 11th minute Roseti came close to doubling the score with a header which, following Maisano’s cross, went just over. Reggina responds with a low shot from Porcino and a right-footed volley from Palumbo, which end up wide, but the big opportunity arrives in the 34th minute: Ferraro’s shot which, deflected by Orlando, hits the crossbar, Edera replies but Sorrentino raises it and balls it onto the crossbar again. On this occasion, luck favors Messina who, in the final, holds up well to Reggina’s forcing and at the final whistle can celebrate under the curve. Long awaited victory when fundamental to further reduce the penalty, now -2, while Reggina remains mid-table and far from the top. Will anything change in the next few hours?
