On the occasion of the historic Walk of the Giants, scheduled today, Monday 10 August, the Messina folk groups “La Madonnina”, “Mata e Grifone”, “I Cariddi”, “Cantustrittu”, “Insieme Siciliano” and “Tarantamè”, expressing their closeness to the community, deeply affected by the tragic collapse of the Pistunina building and the loss of human lives, have decided to accompany the Giants in a sober and respectful. During the journey no musical instruments will be used, nor will any singing or dancing be performed. Only percussive instruments will be used, as a sign of respect and closeness to the families involved. We also inform you that the Music and Cabaret show, scheduled for tonight at 9pm in Piazza Fazio in Camaro, has been canceled and postponed to a later date.

As regards the initiatives scheduled in Piazza Unione Europea, at 9pm, as part of the “Waiting for the Vara” event, the commemorative event “La Vara. One hundred years since the rebirth. 1926-2026”, hosted by Letizia Lucca, will take place. The evening will be dedicated to “La Vara di Messina between readings, music and emotions”, with the participation of Gianpiero Cicciò, Carmen Panarello, Daniele Gonciaruk, Alessandra Di Giacomo, Adriana Salemi, Nino Femminò, Filippo Faillace and mezzo-soprano Emy Spadaro.

In the atrium of Palazzo Zanca it will also be possible to visit, until 16 August, the photographic exhibition “The Vara installation”, with shots by Placido Giannino. The exhibition is curated by the Department of Culture, in collaboration with Francesco Cancellieri.
